Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo

Once owned by the Portuguese Royal Family until 1725, the estate became known as a “new farm” following the merger of two separate properties.

Throughout the 18th and 19th centuries, several Portuguese families lived here, cultivating vineyards and producing wine, tending fruit orchards, and operating the watermill beside the old olive grove and the stream that crosses the estate, during a significant period in the agricultural history of the Douro region.
